
HI! I'M RACHEL.
Affectionately called 'dubs' by my friends, I've had a keen interest in fitness and health for as long as I can remember.
Initially, this looked like competing in team sports like soccer, volleyball, and basketball, as well as individual sports like swimming during my formative years.
Following a lapse in good judgement (if we're honest, there have been a few) during my early university days, I left late nights and questionable music for early mornings, and equally questionable music in the form of gym classes, endurance running, endurance cycling, and, most recently, the all-consuming beast that is triathlon, so I am very familiar with overuse injuries, not listening to your body, and trying to justify muscle and joint pain as 'just a niggle'.
It has only been through setbacks, including long-term injury and a diagnosis of MS, that I have had to be more honest about what my body needs. This is where yoga slowly crept its way out of the background to holding a principal role in my daily life. Having practised since my early 20s, it has become clear that yoga is not just there to help be part of the cure to ailments, but as a way of preventing them in the first place, and finding a better balance in life.
I firmly believe that yoga benefits everybody and every body, despite limitations, barriers, and motivation, so long as it is approached with an open heart and mind.
